A home environment – not a kennel
Guinea pigs are sensitive, social little animals who thrive in a safe, predictable environment. Instead of noisy kennels, they stay in a real family home where they can settle in and feel secure.
- Home‑based guinea pig boarding in London, far from the stress of traditional kennels.
- Quiet, indoor accommodation with space to move, hide and relax.
- Individual attention for each piggy, whether they are confident, shy, young or elderly.
- We never mix pigs from different families, so your guinea pigs only share with their own companions.
Housing, runs and cleaning
Comfortable, clean housing is at the heart of our guinea pig boarding service.
- Indoor pens or cages with plenty of floor space, hides and tunnels.
- Daily out‑of‑cage time for exercise in a secure area, unless you request otherwise.
- Weather permitting, safe outdoor runs so your guinea pigs can enjoy fresh air and grass.
- Pens and runs are kept clean and fresh, with regular spot‑cleaning and full cleans as needed.
You are welcome to bring your own cage or favourite accessories to make their stay feel even more like home.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our Guinea pigs Maverick & Goose stayed with A Furry World whilst we were on skiing holiday and it was such a weight off my mind knowing that they were with somebody who loves animals and who would give them as much love and attention as they have become accustomed to!!!
I can not thank you enough for the fantastic care you took of my babies and we all loved the diary. We will definitely be recommending your services!

Diet and feeding
Guinea pigs have very specific dietary needs, especially when it comes to hay and vitamin C.
- We ask you to bring your guinea pigs’ usual dry food and hay so we can keep their diet consistent.
- We provide fresh vegetables daily, tailored to your instructions and any sensitivities.
- Water is refreshed frequently and checked throughout the day.
- If your guinea pigs are on a special diet or have a history of digestive issues, we will carefully follow your written instructions.
We are happy to discuss diet in detail before the stay to make sure everything is just right.
Handling, grooming and enrichment
Every guinea pig is different – some love fuss and handling, others prefer to be admired from a distance.
- For friendly pigs who enjoy contact, we offer gentle handling, lap time and fuss.
- For shyer or nervous pigs, we keep interaction calm and low‑stress, focusing on quiet reassurance.
- Enrichment such as tunnels, hideouts, chew toys and hay piles encourages natural behaviours like foraging and exploring.
- Depending on coat type, we can provide light brushing and basic grooming during their stay.
We always work at your guinea pigs’ pace and respect their individual personalities.
Pairs, groups and single pigs
We understand how important companionship is for guinea pigs and take great care with housing arrangements.
- Bonded pairs and groups are housed together, with enough space and resources to keep everyone comfortable.
- Single guinea pigs receive extra attention and enrichment to help them feel secure.
- We do not mix guinea pigs from different households, helping to reduce stress and the risk of conflict.
If we ever notice signs of tension or health concerns within a group, we will monitor closely and contact you to agree the best approach.
Health, medication and monitoring
Your guinea pigs’ health and wellbeing are always our priority.
- Daily visual health checks, including appetite, droppings, activity and general demeanour.
- Prompt contact with you (or your nominated person) if we have any concerns.
- We can administer most routine medications by prior arrangement; an additional fee may apply for more complex medical care.
- Clear instructions agreed in advance on what to do in an emergency, including preferred vet details where possible.
Please let us know at the time of booking if your guinea pigs have any ongoing health issues or medication requirements.
How our bookings work
To provide truly personalised care, we gather detailed information before each stay.
- Enquiry – you send us your dates and basic information via the Guinea Pig Boarding Booking form.
- Care form – we ask you to complete a thorough questionnaire covering diet, housing, health, handling preferences and routines.
- Optional meeting – where possible, we can arrange a face‑to‑face or video meeting so you can ask questions and tell us more about your guinea pigs.
- Confirmation – once everything is agreed, we confirm your booking and share drop‑off and collection arrangements.
Early booking is recommended for busy times such as school holidays and Christmas.
